Helping Breedon show support for the community

Breedon Group Plc is a leading vertically-integrated construction materials group, producing a wide range of aggregates, cement and specialist concrete products.

It operates two cement plants and an extensive network of quarries, asphalt plants and ready-mixed concrete plants, together with slate production, concrete and clay products manufacturing, contract surfacing and highway maintenance operations. The Group employs over 3,500 people and has around a billion tonnes of mineral reserves and resources.

Breedon has established a strong reputation for innovation within its industry and has continually developed market-leading products, which help developers, housebuilders, architects and specifiers to save time and money and reduce their environmental impact.

Quiet Storm is a longstanding partner of Breedon Group, and we’ve supported them with many projects and solutions over the years.

A commitment to the community

As part of Breedon’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, they carry  out many activities within the local community. They aim to be a ‘good neighbour’ to the communities around all its operational sites, and always ensures it operates in a way that’s compliant, ethical and responsible. It has set itself ambitious targets at a Group level, to implement good neighbour plans across all their  key sites.

We were asked to support one such CSR initiative at its head office, in Breedon on the Hill, where they ran a competition with a local primary school to raise awareness of safety risks in and around quarries and large vehicles. Children were asked to design two banners highlighting road safety issues to make drivers aware of potential hazards in the local area.

We helped to create visual designs based on the children’s winning pictures, as well as oversee the print, delivery and installation of the new banners, which were placed on the school gates and nearby roadside railings. Mesh-type banners were used to comply with local planning rules.

“We’ve worked with Quiet Storm on many projects over the years and are delighted with their support on this particular initiative. CSR plays an important role in everything we do at Breedon, so being able to showcase our support to the local community is essential.

“The team at Quiet Storm helped turn the winning designs from children into a reality for this initiative, to help raise awareness and promote better safety in and around our head office.”
