Organised by the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber and co-sponsored by the Derby Evening Telegraph, the Awards are open to any company based in Derbyshire, and reward the very best in the business. Each year, months of meticulous preparation culminate in a glittering Awards ceremony where show reels of the finalists are viewed and winners of each category are announced.
The 2008 Awards and black tie gala dinner were held at Derby’s Pride Park Stadium and hosted by Gyles Brandreth. For the sixth year running the Chamber chose to work with Quiet Storm to produce the range of materials needed to promote the awards as well as the tickets, programmes and certificates required for the presentation night. It was imperative that both deadlines and budget were met and that the awards branding was consistently used throughout.
Work began a full nine months prior to Awards Night with a call to applicants at a launch event. Quiet Storm designed and printed application packs as well as an A5 flyer encouraging companies to enter. The design team also created the advertisements needed by the Derby Evening Telegraph to raise the profile of the event and attract applicants.
Once the closing date for entries had passed, the Awards judges selected three finalists from each of the seven categories and the race to complete preparations for the Awards night could begin. The tickets, event programme and award certificates were all produced to the high standard expected and by the required deadlines.
Crucial to the success of the event were the DVD’s telling each finalist’s unique story in a movie clip just one minute long. The Quiet Storm production team had to work within a tight four week window to shoot and edit the 21videos in time for the presentation. When the clips were shown on the night, the audience was left in no doubt as to why these organisations had wowed the judges and won through to the category finals.
Each year an After the Event DVD is created. During a fast-paced and high profile event there is only once chance to catch the moment as each winner collects their prize so the production crew must be on the ball. The Quiet Storm team filmed throughout the evening and captured all the tension, excitement and celebrations of the 2008 Awards Night.
Commenting on the 2008 Business Awards, Rachael Buxton from Derbyshire and Nottingham Chamber of Commerce said: “Throughout the evening, the DVD presentations were first class, providing an exciting narrative for each of the finalists. Quiet Storm excelled themselves. The DVD of the entire event is professional and slick, and provides an exciting basis for promoting future Awards.”Back
