On-line product catalogue serves global market

AESSEAL® is a global leader in the design and manufacture of mechanical seals, support systems and bearing seals. It offers one of the most comprehensive product ranges and ex-stock availability in its industry and needed the new website for its Component Seal division to replicate its printed catalogue.

The multi-lingual home page had to have strong visual appeal and include a search facility as well as a link to an interactive world map and listings for 212 company locations around the globe. A further requirement was for the ‘product range’ link from the main menu to offer site visitors the choice of searching the vast product database in four different ways: by range, application, competitor or Seal coding system. This would lead them to detailed component diagrams and technical specifications.

AESSEAL® provided the Quiet Storm On-Line team with the text for each page and the product database and set them the challenge to deliver a dynamic site, fully optimised to show a strong presence on internet search engine listings. To monitor the return on its investment, AESSEAL® wanted access to detailed statistics on how the site was performing.

Jamie Thums, General Manager, praised Quiet Storm for not only meeting the company brief but exceeding it. He said: “We were delighted all the way through the development of the site. Our brochure is still our primary selling tool and we wanted to replicate this with a new website. We wanted to be able to demonstrate the true depth and breadth of our product range.

“The company is growing at a rate of 20% per annum so, although we have our own international IT resource, the demands on this department are significant. We therefore made the unprecedented decision to commission an outside supplier to build the website.

“We needed to select a business we had confidence in and Quiet Storm met the criteria. We have a working knowledge of them over five years and, due to their technical expertise and reputation, we felt comfortable this project was well within their capabilities.

“We produced an extensive document which included mock-ups of the webpages and left Quiet Storm to design and build the site. The result is a website that, in many instances, surpasses our expectations for functionality and aesthetics.”
