ILS is a leading provider of contract laboratory testing services to the UK food and pharmaceutical industries but the company website was tired and creating little impact on the marketplace. Business Development Manager, Keith Watkins called for a total redesign of the site in a format that would allow easy editing and analysis of web traffic.
He explained: “The old site simply wasn’t up to the job and needed a radical change. Navigation was complex, we couldn’t edit pages ourselves and it wasn’t easily detected by search engines. As well as tackling these problems we wanted to add a news feature and be able to measure the return on our investment.”
“We had worked with Quiet Storm on other projects and they had a good understanding of our company so I was confident they could deliver what was required. Having presented a cleaner, fresher design idea to us the team then suggested that we carry the new look through to our other marketing materials. This made perfect sense so we asked them to redesign our corporate folders and our data sheets, which explain our range of services, to coincide with the site going live.”
Presenting an updated image to existing and prospective customers has breathed new life into the ILS brand. The redesigned website is clear and easy to navigate which encourages visitors to click through the menu options. The detailed statistics provided by Quiet Storm enable ILS to monitor the site’s performance. With high visibility to search engines being high priority, ILS staff attended Quiet Storm’s search engine optimisation workshop so that they understand how to push the site to the top of the listings.
Keith Watkins added: “We are delighted with the new site; it is better planned and the imagery is excellent. The workshop has really helped us and we now know how to use key words and understand how important it is to keep the site fresh. We have also taken Quiet Storm’s advice on how to keep our profile high and have set up in-links from different sources such as directories. The site went live on 12th January and we are learning how to interpret the extensive statistics available to us. The help-desk team have been excellent and when we have any questions they reply in ‘English’ rather than in ‘IT’ – which is refreshing.”
