Glamorous event honours business champions of 2009

Actor Brian Blessed was this year’s celebrity host of Derbyshire’s glittering annual business awards ceremony - one of the most highly anticipated events in the county. For this celebration of entrepreneurial talent and achievement to live up to its five star reputation the preparation and staging must be nothing short of excellent.

Rachael Buxton from the Derbyshire and Nottingham Chamber of Commerce explained: “We start work around nine months before each year’s Awards ceremony with design and printing of the application packs ready for the launch to the local business community. Our advertising and marketing has to be spot on to encourage as many entrants as possible. If we don’t present a polished and professional image how can we expect to attract the very best of Derbyshire business? For the past seven years we have relied on Quiet Storm to ensure we get it right. The team there have a thorough understanding of what is required and share our vision for staging an event that delivers the wow factor year after year. That’s why we have worked with them for the past seven years.

“Crucial to the Awards Night experience are the finalists video profiles. Each story has to be edited down to an inspirational one minute clip that will capture the imagination of the audience and clearly demonstrate why each finalist has attracted the judges’ attention. These show reels generate a huge amount of excitement in the room and help build the tension and anticipation leading up the announcement of each category winner. With 20 finalists to film in a short space of time this is a huge task but the Quiet Storm production team deliver outstanding films every year.”

The Awards are open to Derbyshire based companies, large and small and are a showcase for successful businesses. At the 2009 ceremony at Pride Park Stadium, host Brian Blessed led finalists and guests through the announcement of the seven award categories and the ultimate prize of Derbyshire Business of the Year. Quiet Storm ensured the smooth running of the audio visuals and captured proceedings for production of the Awards Night commemorative DVD.
