New website is a 24/7 fundraiser for NHS Trust charity

Adela explains: “This was to be UHCW Charity’s first website and I had a very clear idea of how I wanted it to look and what it should achieve. The site has just gone live and it looks exactly right – just as I imagined.

“We are the charity to the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust but in designing the site it was very important to reinforce our separate identity and show that we have a different focus than the Trust. Our website had to be informal fun and chatty in the way it promotes the various ways people can make donations and how the money makes a difference to the patients and staff.

“I showed Quiet Storm’s web designers some examples of other charity sites I liked and I mapped out how I wanted the pages to link together. They came up with a perfect design, working within our brand guidelines and incorporating all the features we wanted such as an events calendar and the ability to donate on-line.

“When we got to the test stage I had a group of about 20 individuals, including staff and donors, who looked at it and gave their feedback and suggestions. It was very reassuring to know that they liked the site and found it inviting and easy to follow. There were also some new ideas that we were able to incorporate.

“The site went live a few weeks ago and is already a success. The donors are very happy and the staff are also finding it a valuable resource when patients ask questions about the charity. We are now promoting the web address and expecting the site to be a highly valuable fundraising tool.”

UHCW Charity supports the University Hospital in Coventry and The Hospital of St Cross in Rugby which are both within the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. It also administers charitable donations given to Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust and NHS Coventry. Through donations and fundraising, the charity is able to enhance and improve patient care and facilities by purchasing patient comforts, funding improvements to the hospital environment, buying equipment and contributing to clinical research. UHCW Charity also helps support staff welfare and training.
