Managing Director Alan Smith explains: “We asked Quiet Storm to create a powerful website that would do justice to the quality and durability of our slate products. We particularly wanted to appeal to architects and illustrate how Welsh Slate could add an extra dimension to their building projects. Navigation of the site had to be quick and simple and we also wanted to be able to edit the content and add further pictures ourselves. Having worked with Quiet Storm before, in my previous job, I was confident the team would deliver what was required.

“We were extremely happy with the site created for us – it was everything we asked for. It has been up and running for a couple of years now and month on month, year on year, site activity has increased.”

To meet the brief outlined by Welsh Slate, Quiet Storm compiled a full library of images that could be used throughout the site. These range from photographs displaying the product in external applications such as roofing, paving and cladding through to internal uses such as for worktops and floors. Featured case studies of key projects also encourage visitors to the website to use the product in ways they may not have considered before. Clear and easy to navigate menus, and sub menus, take visitors through the product range and related applications. Contact information is displayed clearly and email links to key personal are provided. Further features of the site include an on-line enquiry form which gathers valuable marketing data and a locations page for the firm’s quarries which uses inter-active Google Maps.

Welsh Slate manufactures high quality roofing slate as well as architectural and slate products to the world market. The company is also a major supplier of aggregates for construction, decorative and industrial purposes. It operates four quarries in North Wales which have been supplying high quality slate for more than two hundred years. The company’s headquarters are based at the Penrhyn Quarry which has been producing roofing slate since the 13th century.
