New website sends enquiries soaring in its first month live

Breedon Golden Amber gravel from Breedon Quarry is used on drives and pathways in some of the UK’s most beautiful country estates such as Chatsworth and Sandringham. Breedon Special Aggregates wanted to give their most prestigious product an internet profile worthy of its success.

Breedon Aggregates Commercial Manager, Angela Benzie, explains: “We did have a website dedicated to our decorative products but it was just two pages, never updated and looked dull and old fashioned. We wanted something fresher and appealing to customers. Breedon Golden Amber is our most prestigious material which accounts for the majority of our Special Aggregates enquiries. Our aim with the new site was to appeal to all our users, from cash sales through to architects, main contractors and end users.

“We are delighted with the result. All our products are clearly showcased and Breedon Golden Amber now has the profile it deserves with an uploaded DVD, giving instructions on how to lay it. The process was filmed by Quiet Storm and the DVD they have produced is attracting amazing feedback.

“Enquiry levels have gone up an enormous amount in the two months since the site went live. We have certainly done a lot more with cash sales and have had increases in enquiries for major projects. Those enquiries could well turn into sales later on in the year.

“In the first month visits jumped by 250% and last month we averaged 54 daily visits. The old site’s daily average was 4. I think Quiet Storm have been very innovative and worked with me rather than telling me what I need. They took the time to understand the business so they could make a website exactly to our specification. We wanted a site that is user friendly and answered people’s questions about the products and that is exactly what we have. I update the site every week to keep it fresh. It’s so simple to upload new photos and our latest news stories.

“I am especially pleased with our Breedon Golden Amber DVD. I worked closely with Quiet Storm on finalising the script and the photographs. Previously it could sometimes be difficult to clearly communicate the requirements of the product and describe the laying process. Often it meant a site visit by us. The DVD has changed that. It is so informative and users can clearly see every step of the laying process and how the product should look.”

Breedon Special Aggregates offer a wide range of decorative chippings to enhance all types of landscaping projects. The company’s premier product, Breedon Golden Amber gravel, is a natural limestone quarried exclusively at Breedon on the Hill in Derbyshire. It is perfectly suited to pathways and driveways and is the only self binding gravel to hold The Royal Warrant.
