A joined-up digital platform

Central Joinery Group provides UK-manufactured timber products to customers across the UK, including national housebuilders and developers, smaller independent construction firms and private contractors.

It is split into three specialist divisions which manufacture an extensive range of high quality, beautifully crafted staircases, stair risers, windows and doors, all made using responsibly sourced timber. It has a dedicated team of experienced craftsmen and has invested heavily in cutting-edge technology and the latest woodworking machinery, which enable it to produce the highest quality staircases available in the UK.

With a trading history that stretches back more than 40 years, it has undertaken some exciting and unusual projects. Between 2004 and 2008, it invested more than £1.75m in two environmentally friendly manufacturing facilities in Swadlincote, Derbyshire, which enable it to deliver exceptional products and services to its wide customer base.

Quiet Storm has a longstanding relationship with Central Joinery, going back more than ten years. Last year, we were tasked with creating a new website and CRM system to join up its online presence and streamline and simplify its sales and customer operations.

Operational efficiency

Kyle Archbold, Central Joinery’s Operations Director, was looking for a bespoke CRM system to help optimise its backend processes and make the business run more efficiently. Its three divisions were operating in silos, and it needed a central business management hub for recording contacts, suppliers and communications, generating quotes, managing tasks, storing important documents and maintaining an audit trail.

It was also looking to refresh its brand identity and website to better reflect its expanded offering and attract a wider audience online. We created a bespoke version of our cloud-based Vision CRM platform, which can be accessed online via tablet or desktop. It enables surveyors to produce PDF quotes while on site, which can be stored to the customer’s CRM record for complete visibility.

We integrated a virtualisation tool, called Stairbiz, which allows surveyors to quickly create 2D CNC sketches for each project, based on the customer’s measurements and specifications. These are then attached to the quote, allowing for more straightforward and more accurate quoting.

We also helped redesign and rebrand its brochure website with a fresh new look and feel and a simpler user journey. It links to and features information about the three divisions of the business – Central Staircases, Central Specialist Joinery and Central Stair Risers – along with a news portal and links to the group’s social media channels. The new website aims to better reflect the Central Joinery Group’s brand and values and why its customers benefit from working with a wider group.

Exceptional customer service

“Quiet Storm is a longstanding partner of Central Joinery, and we’ve been really impressed by the speed at which they developed and launched our CRM system and the difference it has made to the business. It gives our sales team the tools they need to quickly pull together quotes for customers while they are out and about and ensure that they are stored centrally to provide everyone in the business complete visibility of where each project is at, at any given time.

“By integrating our Stairbiz tool, it also enables us to create more accurate quotes and customer requirements, which cuts back on delays and admin time. It just makes things easier to move each project from start to finish and gives us more control over where each one is at, so we’re aware of any potential issues and can head them off before they become significant problems. It means we can continue to provide exceptional service to our customers, which backs up our commitment to delivering the quality products and solutions we manufacture here in the UK.”
