Quiet Storm were asked to create the new European site and transfer content from the existing site before it was decommissioned.
The global site for the new company, Yusen Logistics, had already been created in Japan and Quiet Storm’s web team were asked to use this as a basis for designing and building the European site.
Mark Errington, Marketing Executive for Yusen Logistics (UK) said: “The deadline for this was tight but having worked with Quiet Storm before I was confident that we would meet it. We realised the menu structure might have to vary slightly from the Japanese site but we asked the designers to mimic that style and keep to the new brand guidelines. We wanted one-click navigation to keep the site simple and all 18 European countries in the global network had to be represented and be given the facility to edit their own page of information. We also had to include a search and tracking option for customers and a link to the global site.
“We have been delighted with the fast turnaround of the project. Quiet Storm have delivered a quality product and given us an excellent level of customer service throughout the process.”
To fulfil the brief, Quiet Storm built a robust framework for the corporate website and devised a menu system for the top of the home page. These headings each contain their own drop-down menus to the next level. Images for the new site were supplied by Yusen (UK) and written content was transferred from the existing UK site. Previously the European divisions had their own websites and a link from a central ‘landing site’. In the new structure they would be represented by only one or two pages so information from these sites had to be condensed. Added flexibility is built in with the Easy Edit 7 software to allow for more pages to be added as the European network expands and pages can be switched on and off quickly. Some pages can be set to go live at certain dates which is a useful facility when launching new areas of the site or new services and if needed, the structure of the menu system can be altered completely. There is a There is also an option to add further images to the Rotating Banners Module.
