Striking branding helps get ambulance service message across

A mixture of ambulances and people carriers will be used to take patients with urgent needs to hospital for admission, provide inter-hospital transfers and to provide a rapid response to patients with minor injuries or illnesses in the future.

It was important to EMAS that the new vehicles be recognised as being theirs, but at the same time they wanted them to have an identity that distinguished them from other vehicles in the fleet.

Quiet Storm has worked for EMAS previously on projects including a video, exhibition stand, roller banners and PowerPoint presentation and so were approached to come up with ideas for the livery on the new cars.

The brief was to create an individual look but one that included the NHS and EMAS logos as well as EMAS’ web address.

Quiet Storm provided the organisation with a number of alternative designs. They chose a striking look with a grey and silver chevron running down the side of the urgent/transfer vehicles. The future Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP) people carriers will be predominantly blue with distinctive markings.

Commenting on the look, Dave Whiting, Director of Operational Services at EMAS, said: “We are a forward-thinking organisation and an integral part of the NHS and we wanted the appearance of these new vehicles to reflect that.

“They certainly look different and we are confident that as they start to go out across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Rutland people will hopefully notice them and comment positively on the new look.”
