Driving a solution to recruitment challenge
19 September 2022
Commercial Vehicle Movements (CVM) is a specialist vehicle logistics provider for commercial, HGV and bus movements across the UK and Europe.
The Coalville-based firm has been providing a wide range of driven vehicle services, including inspection, collection and delivery, since 1986. Its services include one off collection and delivery to annually contracted services, pan-European car, coach and HGV delivery and single, multiple or fleet movements.
CVM works with HGV, bus and coach manufacturers, body shops, commercial vehicle main dealers and resellers, local authorities and the military and emergency services, as well as private business clients and individual traders. Its experienced, uniformed drivers provide tailored commercial vehicle delivery, collection and movement solutions, operating to ISO 9001. It’s always on the lookout for skilled and experienced contracted self-employed trade plate drivers to join its growing team across the UK.
We’ve worked with CVM for several years on various projects and were appointed to create a new recruitment video to showcase the company and the opportunities on offer and attract more of the right potential candidates.
A day in the life
Our solution was to create a ‘day in the life’ themed video, which follows CVM delivery driver Kieran around for the day, from waking up in the morning to going home in the evening, to give potential employees an idea of what to expect from the company.
The video shows Kieran at various points of the working day, from checking in at work to collecting and delivering vehicles, inspecting them and getting from job to job. Like all delivery drivers, Kieran uses CVM’s Auto Advisor app, which tells him where he needs to be, allows him to check in with the office and keep updated with any changes to his schedule, and report any issues.
The aim of the video is to give a first-hand experience of what it’s like to work for CVM, how easy it is to manage each job, and the variety of tasks drivers could be asked to do on any given day. We storyboarded and scripted the video based on the client brief, and oversaw the filming process to ensure the right footage was captured.
Once the film was approved by the client, we created a new ‘Join the Team’ page on the firm’s website to host the video, along with an interactive form where potential candidates can apply. The form includes fields for applicants to talk about their experience in the sector, and the type of vehicle licence they hold, from car or 7.5 tonne truck, to HGV or PCV licences.
Testimonial
“We operate in a highly competitive industry, which means it can often be a struggle to find the right people. Our new recruitment video allows us to show potential employees what life is really like working for CVM, so they can decide whether it’s right for them before they apply. It gives them a flavour of what to expect and the sort of people we’re looking for, and the skills and qualifications they need, which helps cut down on the amount of speculative job applications we receive, which can waste our time and theirs.
“We’ ve worked with Quiet Storm on several projects over the years and they always deliver when it comes to developing solutions to our challenges.Whether it’s sales and marketing or recruitment, they help us to think outside the box and give a different perspective, to help us improve the way we do things and get results.”
