Displaying stone products in the best light

Breedon Special Aggregates is the decorative division of Breedon Group plc, one of the UK’s leading construction materials providers.

Based at Breedon Quarry, in Breedon on the Hill, the firm offers a comprehensive range of decorative aggregates and high-quality limestone products to domestic and commercial customers across the UK.

Its wide range of products can be delivered nationwide or collected loose or in bulk bags. They are suitable for various applications, including commercial and residential pathways, driveways, car parks, courtyards, architectural landscaping, gardening projects and water features. It’s also the sole producer of Breedon Golden Amber Gravel, the only self-binding product to hold the prestigious Royal Warrant.

We’ve developed a strong working partnership with Breedon Special Aggregates over several years. We were delighted to be tasked with revamping its stone sample units, which display its range of aggregates in sales areas at its head office and at events and builders’ merchants across the UK. Architects and landscapers also find them very useful to have to hand when designing projects for their clients.

A custom-made display

Breedon Special Aggregates asked us to create around 100 new acrylic display units it uses to house stone samples for their trade customers and landscapers. It had some existing units in place, but these had dated branding and had suffered a lot of wear and tear over the years, so they didn’t portray the products – or brand – in the best light.

Our objective was to re-engineer the units to ensure they were robust enough to handle the weight of the aggregates on display, withstand the hustle and bustle of a busy showroom, and reflect Breedon’s brand and sales message effectively. The units we designed were made of thicker clear acrylic than the previous versions, which meant they could handle more weight, but also weren’t as easy to knock around or damage.

Once the units were created, we added custom-branded vinyl to each with product names, sales information and contact and social media details. We then arranged for these to be manufactured and delivered to their office.

‘First port of call’

“I’ve worked with the Quiet Storm team on many projects over the years, so they were the first port of call for this one. It was such an unusual job because the original units were custom-made, so we needed someone we could trust to have a look at it for us. Quiet Storm did an excellent job of thinking through what the units would be used for, where they would be placed and how robust they would need to be to withstand getting knocked around in builders’ showrooms and at events.

“I really wanted a ‘cleaner’, more modern look with these units, and Quiet Storm thought about how they could be designed and branded to ensure they carried the right messaging and calls to action to support our sales objectives. All in all, they did a great job of creating some bespoke units that really show our products off in the best light and I couldn’t be happier with the end result.”
