Quiet Storm achieves Cyber Essentials accreditation

In an age of ever-increasing hacker attacks, data breaches and cyber-crime, it’s important to partner with a technology solutions provider you can trust.

That’s why Quiet Storm is delighted to announce that we have achieved full accreditation under the Cyber Essentials initiative.

The Government-backed scheme provides businesses with the tools they need to protect their data, networks and digital assets from cyber-attack.

It has been developed to provide a basic cyber-security standard for business.

It provides validation that companies which hold it are taking all necessary steps to protect themselves from cyber-attacks and keeping their customer data safe.

Cyber Essentials accreditation is also a requirement for all businesses planning to bid for public sector contracts that involve handling personal information.

Certification is included as part of the National Cyber Security Strategy, with the primary aim of making the UK a safer place to conduct business online.

Accredited businesses can display a Cyber Essentials badge on their websites and marketing literature to demonstrate their adoption of best practice, giving them a competitive edge.

A growing problem

The threat of cyber-attacks remains very real and widespread in the UK.

New statistics from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) published in the 2019 Cyber Security Breaches Survey has shown that only 33% of businesses have cyber-security policies in place.

While security is improving overall, the threat of repeated attacks is high at companies where security is lax.

Around 48% of businesses and 39% of charities which have fallen victim to hacking identified at least one breach or attack every month.

It shows that vigilance and awareness must be kept at the top of all company risk registers. Businesses need to continually review their cyber security standards and ensure staff are trained properly, as the hackers working outside the law are looking at new ways to breach data security.

Sam Webb, our Lead Developer, said: “As technology develops, more businesses store data and communicate with each other using online or digital applications.

“This has increased the threat of cyber-attacks and the devastating effect they can have on a business.

Bob Tod, our internal IT guru said: “Having Cyber Essentials accreditation gives our clients peace of mind that our digital solutions meet best practice guidelines for cyber-security.

“Our compliance highlights our strong commitment to this increasingly important area of business. Legislation is being introduced all the time, such as EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which mandates high standards for data security.

“This certification marks another important milestone for Quiet Storm and shows our clients how seriously we take our duty to protect their data.”

We help to Build, Manage & Grow your business through digital innovation.
