AIM Qualifications and Assessment Group (formerly AIM Awards) is a leading international Awarding Organisation(AO) offering nationally regulated qualifications, and an End-Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO) specialising in apprenticeship end-point assessments in the creative, cultural and professional services industries.
Issues: AIM Awards had an extensive customer base across the UK and overseas, however in 2016, Awarding organisations were facing several challenges, from cuts in government funding to rationalisation of awarding bodies within training and education organisations. The changes in government funding for different qualifications meant that some courses had become less desirable for colleges and training providers. This also concentrated focus on the providers of courses which still attracted funding. With intense pressure to deliver more for less in the market, colleges were also trying to reduce the administrative burden of managing several awarding providers. This meant AIM Awards needed to radically review the courses on offer and how they could add value to colleges to make them a more attractive supplier.
Resolution: Introductory project: We took the management team at AIM Awards through our Storming process, which made them look at what they do, but from the customers perspective. From this workshop, the ideas flowed and the team were able to list and visualise the things which needed to change, and give AIM Awards a real point of difference. This redesign of the engagement process made AIM Awards the talk of the industry. The result was a transformation in the way the organisation engaged with its clients. It helped us articulate our unique differentiator within the education sector and made it easier for colleges to deal with us.
Updates: The website, customer portal and offer provided by AIM Awards has changed significantly over the decade since we started working with them. The organisation went through a significant merger in 2023, which resulted in a fundamental iteration of the website and customer portal.
