William Davis Choose Quiet Storm as Their Digital Transition Partner

A shared vision for smarter housebuilding

When a business with the heritage and reputation of William Davis appoints a digital partner, it’s never a decision taken lightly.

It’s about more than technology.

It’s about trust, collaboration, and a shared understanding of how systems can support — and improve — the customer journey.

Who are William Davis?

William Davis Ltd is a long-established, family-owned housebuilder, delivering high-quality homes across the Midlands.

Known for their:

  • Strong reputation for craftsmanship
  • Customer-focused approach
  • Long-term commitment to quality

They operate in a sector where detail matters — not just in construction, but in the experience customers have from purchase through to occupation and beyond.

A recommendation that carried weight

The introduction to Quiet Storm came through a trusted recommendation.

Matthew Bullock, Head of Data & Systems, and Nathan Burrows, Systems Development Manager, were exploring ways to evolve their internal systems and customer experience.

A colleague — with previous experience at another housebuilder who had worked with Quiet Storm — suggested starting a conversation.

After a series of in-depth meetings to:

  • Understand the scope of the project
  • Align on technical requirements
  • Define how the teams would work together

Quiet Storm was appointed as William Davis’ digital transition partner.

Transparency from the outset

Given Quiet Storm’s existing relationships within the housebuilding sector, transparency was key.

All parties were kept fully informed to ensure there was no conflict of interest. With a positive relationship already in place between the businesses, the project was given the green light — setting the tone for an open and collaborative partnership.

Two systems, one seamless experience

Working hand in glove

At the heart of the project is a close integration between:

  • William Davis’ internally developed Site Manager mobile app
  • Quiet Storm’s customer-facing portal

Rather than duplicating functionality, the approach was to create synergy between the two systems.

This means:

  • Site Managers operate within their app
  • Customers interact through a dedicated web portal
  • Data flows between the two environments seamlessly

It’s a model that reduces complexity, avoids unnecessary duplication, and keeps development efficient.

A practical approach to development

Right tool for the right task

One of the early decisions was to utilise the existing Site Manager app for pre-occupation audits.

This avoided the need to build a hybrid web app — reducing cost and complexity — while ensuring:

  • Offline capability where required
  • Smooth data capture on-site

Post-occupation, the system transitions to a web-based portal, where homeowners and surveyors can engage with the process online.

Built around real-world processes

From notice to complete — to life in the home

The platform supports the full customer journey, starting from the “notice to complete” stage.

Key functionality includes:

Customer onboarding

  • Automatic transfer of plot and customer data
  • Portal invitations and setup
  • Initial portal experience aligned to William Davis branding

Customer journey support

  • Access to videos and guidance
  • Digital documents and house information
  • Structured confirmations to guide understanding

Managing issues with clarity

A structured approach to snagging

A major component of the system is issue (snagging) management, aligned to NHBC standards.

The process includes:

  • Issue reporting (by customers, surveyors or site managers)
  • Validation by site teams
  • Assignment to subcontractors
  • Tracking through to resolution

Importantly, the system is designed to be highly agile, allowing:

  • Updates to standards
  • Ongoing refinement of issue categories
  • Continuous improvement over time

Visibility across the entire process

From site to subcontractor

The platform ensures all stakeholders are connected:

  • Site Managers oversee validation and allocation
  • Subcontractors access and resolve issues
  • Customer services teams manage communication
  • Customers track progress in real time

Additional features include:

  • Booking home demonstrations
  • Communication logs and contact tracking
  • Emergency reporting
  • Exception reporting for delayed resolutions

Integration that drives efficiency

Behind the scenes, the system integrates with existing infrastructure, including:

  • SharePoint APIs (with regular data triggers)
  • Data sharing into reporting environments

This ensures information is:

  • Up to date
  • Accessible
  • Actionable

A project built in stages

Flexibility with control

Given the scale and complexity of the project, delivery is structured in agreed phases.

Each stage is:

  • Scoped collaboratively
  • Delivered and reviewed
  • Refined before moving forward

This approach ensures:

  • Both teams remain aligned
  • Risks are minimised
  • The final solution meets real-world needs

Collaboration at its core

This isn’t a typical client–supplier relationship.

It’s a partnership.

With William Davis’ internal development team building core systems, and Quiet Storm delivering complementary functionality, success depends on:

  • Clear communication
  • Defined protocols
  • Mutual respect for expertise

And just as importantly — the flexibility to adapt as the project evolves.

Building for the future

For William Davis, this project is about more than digitisation.

It’s about:

  • Enhancing the customer experience
  • Improving operational efficiency
  • Creating systems that support long-term growth

By combining internal expertise with external support from Quiet Storm, they’re building a solution that works not just for today — but for the future of their business. And that’s where real digital transformation happens.
